Menu Manager for Wordpress By Flip Media Dubai

July 10th, 2006

Flip Media Dubai has released a new plugin for WordPress. The plugin is called menu manager. The functionality of the plugin is to help the bloggers to manage their own custom menu on the site.

You can create as many menus you want to display in your site using this menu manager. This menu manager items are populated from WordPress post, pages, links, categories. So you can create a single menu where you can link to some of the most popular or most wanted pages in your site. Below I have given a screen shot of a simple menu I have created using menu manager named ’sidebar’.

To activate the menu I had to modify the themes which was really tough. ;-)

< ?php

echo wpfm_create('sidebar');

?>

That’s it…!!!! Wow too good..!!!

The bellow screen shot shows the menu in action :-D

This plugin was developed by Shuja Shabandri and since his domain is down you can download this plugin from this blog.

    ow, good question :D depends on whats important to you: akismet support, no plugin installation (theres a list of 70+ plugins preinstalled), google sitemap, optimized queries, no php in templates, tag-editing page, tag-cloud, tagging, bla, customizable URIs for every context (search/static, etc), keeping the wordpress backend, rss+atom feeds for nearly everything (even search-strings, whoever needs that …) and so on.
    besides that there are only a handful of programmers around doing improvements (not counting me in – and these few do a lot!) i’m happy and sure gonna keep it. just integrated a live-search. *smile*

    For Drop down menu

    echo wpfm_create('menu-name', true, 'select', array('' => 'Site Navigation'));

    It works on WP 2.2.1

    The only problem is that you cant add external links, since MenuManager extracts the list of links from the old links system, which doesnt exist anymore.

    Too bad, since adding any URL without needing to add it to the links manager was the only issue on MenuManager… wish someone took over this problem and updates it, so you can add any link to it.

    Sadly, this wont work on WP 2.3 for sure…

    I’m not php skilled, but will try to see if there’s any way to make this work :)

    if anyone else tries, let me know..
