Recently I bought an online storage space here at SugarSync.
Here are some of the features
- Online backup
- Multi-computer sync (Mac and Windows)
- Remote access
- Mobile phone access (iPhone, Blackberry and Windows Mobile)
- Music & photos
- Sharing
- Data security
.
I am being honest with you. I get bonus space if someone registers using my referral. And if you buy space you might even get upto 10 GB extra. So feel free to try this product. I am sure you will like it 🙂
To do online backups you can also try a new CloudBerry Online Backup for Amazon S3. It is free for bloggers, education and non-profit organizations.
@Nadya, CloudBerry Lab Team
Some problem with your service.
1. There is no support for mac
2. Amazon S3 is not free, I have pay for all transactions I do with it.
3. S3 does not have a web interface when I can easily manage my files anywhere I want.
I’ll have to try out SugarSync. I’ve been using MyOtherDrive.com for a while now, and it is great, but I would like to have redundant backup for my redundant backup. If you know what I mean.
@Imthiaz
This is not a problems but business strategy. There is always a catch with “free” online backups. They are usually limited to 2 GB and after that you have to start paying. 2GB of Amazon S3 cost $0.3 /months. I don’t think it is a big deal for anybody to pay 30 cents.
Even if CloudBerry Lab goes out of business you know that your files are securely stored on your own Amazon S3 account and you will be able to use other tools to get your data.
As for Mac support we are targeting Windows users, not Mac users. There is still a majority of Windows users and we are going to offer product to them. We don’t have anything against Mac but this is a decision we made.
As for web interface we are going to offer it in the future and you will be able to access your backup storage everywhere where you have the internet connection.
Thanks
Andy
CloudBerry Lab.
@Andy I did the math for my backup cost. I am using 27 GB currently to store my pictures and important files.
Cost for 27 GB per month 27 * 0.30 = 8.1 $
Cost for 1 year 8.1 * 12 = 97.2
Where as I am paying 50 $ for 30 GB with SugarSync. Plus I got around 12.5 GB ( 3.75$ S3 cost per month ) by just referring friends. That is not going to stop most of my friends going to upgrade to paid plan.
Again the “free” online backups : These are of course marketing strategies. Even in a sweet shop the shop keeper gives sweets to taste and if the customer likes it so he buys else not. It is the same case here with SugarSync, they are giving the user a sample glimpse of their service. If the they like it they will become a paid customer.
@Nadya, CloudBerry Lab Team Your marketing strategy is to give free to blogger so they will promote your product. This is also an age old trick on the web.
I use Amazon S3 extensively to offload website traffic. It serves as a high delivery server and which can withstand any kind of traffic. Bucket explorer is really nice software which works in 3 major platforms Windows, Mac and Linux.
I don’t have any problems against CloudBerry. I thought @Nadya was trying to sell me your service. I took my time to review your product. I am a mac user and I calculated the cost and I gave my reply.
All the best CloudBerry team and I had real fun replying this comment 🙂
I’ve been using the 2GB free version for my iPhone and it is more than enough space for that!
@Imthiaz, Thanks for the share and I’m loving your most of the things.
I’m going through your referral url and pls tell me whatver you get the bonus or not. Later I’ll tell the experience of sugarsync. I’m mainly used to DropBox . It’s awesome and fastest sync I’ve ever seen though I need more space and trying to manage all things.
Hi Sakib
Some of my friends are using it. I find it little bit expensive than sugarsync. Plus I just store my files there and I don’t access them often.
Thanks anyways.
